ITales
Privacy
This notice describes how personal data is handled on the ITales preview and feedback website. Last updated: 2 October 2026.
Who is responsible?
Dennis Herbrik, Weilimdorfer Straße 103, 70469 Stuttgart, Germany. You can contact us at feedback@itales.eu.
Hosting and local media
The website is hosted on GitHub Pages, provided by GitHub, Inc. GitHub processes technical request data, including IP addresses and browser information, to deliver and secure the site. Our legitimate interest in providing a reliable website is the basis for this processing under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. See GitHub’s privacy statement for its handling of technical logs.
Our preview images, videos and fonts are served with the website. We do not embed third-party video players or load Google Fonts.
itch.io demo widget
The home page embeds an itch.io widget for Quantum-Echo. When the widget loads, your browser connects to itch.io, which can receive technical request data and may set cookies. See itch.io’s privacy policy and cookie policy.
Your feedback and Formspree
Sending the feedback form transmits your interest area, interest rating, any reason you give for selecting “Nothing”, optional comments about missing features or other ideas, and the origin page to Formspree, Inc. If you request a launch notification, it also transmits your email address and notification consent. Formspree processes the submission and delivers it to us; it may also process IP addresses and browser information for delivery, security and spam prevention. See Formspree’s privacy policy.
We use your feedback to evaluate interest in ITales and improve the concept. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding demand and visitors’ wishes under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Participation is voluntary. The two interest questions are required to submit feedback; selecting “Nothing” also requires a brief reason. Comments about missing features or other ideas and an email address are optional. You can use the previews without completing the form or allowing Analytics. Feedback without an email is not necessarily anonymous to Formspree. Please avoid sensitive personal information in comments.
Email communication and Hostinger
Messages sent to feedback@itales.eu are handled in our Hostinger email mailbox. This includes your sender address, message content, any attachments and technical delivery information such as timestamps and email headers. Formspree notification emails delivered to this mailbox are also stored and processed there.
We process enquiries to answer your questions and handle related correspondence. This is based on our legitimate interest in communicating with visitors under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Hostinger provides the mailbox and processes its contents on our behalf. Its privacy policy and data processing addendum explain its processing and use of service providers.
Optional launch notification
If you provide your email and select “Notify me when ITales launches”, we store your address and consent to send the requested launch announcement. The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time by contacting feedback@itales.eu. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
The form does not subscribe you to a recurring newsletter. No automated launch emails are sent by this website.
Optional Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, only after you select “Allow analytics”. It measures page visits, interest-button clicks, form starts and confirmed feedback submissions, together with browser, device, cookie identifiers and approximate geographic information. We use these measurements to assess which previews interest visitors and how many measured visitors complete the feedback form. See Google’s privacy policy.
The legal basis for this processing is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Storing and reading optional Analytics cookies also requires your consent under § 25(1) TDDDG. The website does not send email addresses, comments or individual survey answers to Analytics. Our tag disables advertising personalization and Google Signals and denies advertising-related storage and consent. Page addresses and referrers sent by our tag exclude query parameters and fragments.
Before agreement, and after declining, this site does not load its own Google Analytics script or send its own measurement requests. The itch.io widget uses separate services as described above. You can change your choice through “Analytics settings” in the footer. Declining after agreement stops further measurement and removes this site’s Analytics cookies. It does not undo measurements already collected with consent.
Cookies and your saved Analytics choice
Analytics preferences: We use browser local storage to save your allow-or-decline choice and the time of that choice. This lets us respect your preference across pages and visits. The saved choice is honoured for 180 days, after which we ask again. Local-storage entries do not expire automatically: the entry remains until you make a new choice or clear this website’s stored data in your browser. If storage is unavailable, your choice applies to the current page only.
This preference storage is necessary to apply your requested privacy choice under § 25(2)(2) TDDDG. Processing the choice is based on our legitimate interest in respecting that preference under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Storing a declined choice does not load Analytics.
Analytics cookies: After agreement, Google may set cookies with names beginning with “itales_landing” to recognise your browser for measurement. They are configured with a 180-day lifetime; subsequent visits with consent can renew that lifetime. You can revoke consent through the footer or clear cookies in your browser. Clearing website data also removes the saved preference, so we ask again on your next visit. Cookie lifetimes and local preference storage are separate from Google’s server-side data retention.
The website does not save your feedback answers in cookies or local storage. While you complete the form or retry a failed submission, your entries remain on the page.
How long we keep information
- Feedback: We retain identifiable responses while they are needed to evaluate this interest study and decide on the ITales concept. Once they are no longer needed for that purpose, we delete them or anonymise them. This applies to submissions we control in Formspree and to copies in our mailbox. Anonymous summaries may be retained to guide development.
- Email enquiries: We keep correspondence while handling the enquiry and any necessary follow-up. We then delete it unless a legal retention obligation or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims requires longer retention.
- Launch notifications: We retain the requested contact details until the announcement is sent, you withdraw consent, or the launch-notification purpose is abandoned. They are then deleted, except for records needed to meet legal obligations or handle legal claims.
Formspree’s plan-dependent dashboard archive period does not remove email copies in our mailbox. Providers may separately retain security logs or backups as described in their policies.
Our GA4 property’s retention for user- and event-level data is set to two months. Google deletes expired data through its monthly deletion process. A user identifier’s retention period may restart after new activity. Standard aggregated reports are not subject to that retention setting and may be kept longer. See Google’s data-retention documentation.
Recipients and international transfers
The services described above receive the data needed for their respective tasks. Processing may take place outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Transfer safeguards are separate from the legal bases for processing explained above.
- GitHub: Its privacy statement describes its EU–US Data Privacy Framework certification and other safeguards for international transfers.
- Formspree: It states that it relies on EU Standard Contractual Clauses as a processor. Details are available on its security page.
- Hostinger: Its data processing addendum includes EU Standard Contractual Clauses for applicable transfers to countries without an adequacy decision.
- Google: It describes reliance on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for applicable US transfers and Standard Contractual Clauses for other applicable transfers. See its international-transfer information and data processing terms.
You can use the linked documents to review the safeguards or contact feedback@itales.eu to request further information or a copy of applicable safeguards.
Your choices and rights
Contact feedback@itales.eu to request access, correction, deletion or restriction of your personal data. Where applicable, you may request data portability. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons arising from your particular situation, and withdraw consent for Analytics or a launch notification at any time. For feedback submitted without identifying information, we may need details to locate the relevant submission.
You can complain to a competent supervisory authority, including one in the country where you live or work. For the operator in Stuttgart, the regional authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Baden-Württemberg.
We do not use the feedback form to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
